Views
Ways to show the roadmap. Each view is built from the same data, for a different audience or question.
Horizons
Your plan in horizons: columns such as Now, Next and Later.
Timeline
Your plan on a timeline: bars from start to finish, in swimlanes.
Not in this demoSources
Sources are where your roadmap's data comes from: a spreadsheet, an engineering tool, or even a picture of a roadmap. Connect one, and your roadmap updates whenever you sync it.
This demo has one source: a spreadsheet we made from the GOV.UK roadmap.
About
Your tools are built for planning the roadmap. Ours is built for showing it off.
Product and engineering tools, and spreadsheets, are where work gets planned. They serve the team doing it, not the people it's shown to.
Presentation tools like PowerPoint, Miro and Slides make roadmaps look great. But each one is a static snapshot, drawn by hand every time the work changes.
Roadmap App lets you craft beautiful roadmaps that connect to your data. Design them once and they update whenever your plans do.
How it works:
- Sources: connect a spreadsheet or an engineering tool, or start from a picture of a roadmap.
- Data: check what came in, and keep only the records and fields your roadmap needs.
- Views: build interactive roadmap views, all from one version of the truth.
About this demo
Every roadmap here was built by Roadmap App from real data, taken from the UK government's public roadmap on GOV.UK.
How we did it:
- We copied the roadmap information into a spreadsheet, as if our team managed it there.
- We connected the spreadsheet to Roadmap App as a source.
- We designed a theme in Roadmap App, inspired by the GOV.UK website, then two more, to show it's not a one-off.
The GOV.UK roadmap took about 15 minutes, from spreadsheet to finished theme. Now every sync of the spreadsheet brings it up to date.
Roadmap App is a prototype, not a mock-up, and it does a lot more than this demo shows. We're having fun with it, seeing who's interested, and finding out just how far roadmap visuals can go.
